SHAPIRO Consulting was established in 1998 by Dr. Gillian Shapiro. Gillian and her associate consultants draw on cutting edge knowledge and creative techniques to provide support to organisations working towards equality and diversity at the diagnostic, strategic design and implementation stages. Together with our clients we provide practical approaches to improving levels of customer service, team performance and organisational effectiveness through greater awareness, support and promotion of internal and external diversities.

Dr. Gillian Shapiro (PhD)

Dr. Gillian Shapiro is managing director of Shapiro Consulting Ltd. Before establishing her own company she spent ten years as a senior researcher at the Centre for Research in Innovation Management at the University of Brighton. Here she conducted some ground breaking research into how positively managing employee diversity can act as an essential element in supporting workplace innovation. Her PhD research focused on women progressing senior managerial careers.

As a consultant, Gillian has worked with a number of different organisations in the public and private sectors in the UK and across Europe undertaking diagnostic and development work on equality and diversity. She has worked closely with senior management teams helping them establish the business case for diversity in their organisation and develop a strategy for positively managing diversity.

Gillian’s strengths lie in being able to transfer and apply her specialist knowledge to her client organisations context and in being an excellent communicator. Gillian’s expertise in the fields of equality and diversity are not only reflected in her publications and public speaking but also in her work with leading employer-led organisations including Opportunity Now and the Employers’ Forum on Disability and in judging the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence on Diversity.

As well as undertaking senior level, policy and strategic work, Gillian is an executive development coach with qualifications from the Academy of Executive Coaching. She also enjoys facilitating change through training, workshops and conferences.
